Aubrey Brannin Shipp Jr.

ENFIELD – Aubrey Brannin Shipp, Jr., age 78, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Born in Fulton County, GA on May 1, 1946, he was the son of the late Aubrey Brannin Shipp, Sr. and Viola Virginia Cope Shipp. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, April Belinda Shipp Henderson.

A dedicated man, Aubrey was a butcher for IGA Grocery in Enfield for over 20 years before going to work for Abbott Laboratories until his retirement after over 10 years. Following his retirement, he worked for Bass Farms as a deliveryman. Aubrey enjoyed reading, movies, listening to his favorite songs by Elvis Presley and Brenda Lee, and especially loved playing golf and fishing. A compassionate, kind, and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and special friend to many, Aubrey will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Aubrey is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Shipp Velasquez and her fiancé Travis Burris; his grandchildren, Jessica Belinda Velasquez and Tyler Lee Velasquez; his great grandchildren, Kaitie Belinda Chapman and Caleb Joel Wooten; his special friend, Barbara Burch; and many extended family members and good friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Aubrey’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
