As more families have experiences with Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation, families have been asking if an existing pre-need policy for your funeral that was written somewhere else can be transferred to us. The answer is yes, absolutely. Funeral insurance policies belong to the individual, not the funeral home that wrote the policy. The other funeral home does NOT need to be contacted to transfer your arrangements to us.

Here is how it works:

If a death has just occurred, contact us immediately, and we’ll accept the policy and follow it in its entirety. That’s the peace of mind we offer you.

If you’d like to visit with us about transfering your existing policy, please call or come by our funeral home.

We encourage pre-planning questions and discussions, whether or not you’re ready to make final decisions. The more you know about your choices now brings you peace of mind and time to think about what you’d really like to have when your family and friends gather to remember you.

For families choosing burial:

Existing policy holders will just need to change the assignee to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Our office can help you complete this change in minutes. Once this is accomplished, we fulfill everything that was stated in your policy. We have caskets for your choosing that are just like the ones specified in your contract (color, decoration, etc.). If military honors are requested in your plan all we need is their DD-214 form and we will take care of contacting the veterans group for military honors at the service

For families choosing cremation:

If cremation is your preference, we have a large selection of cremation urns that you’ll find meet the one chosen when you made your original arrangements.

    First I would like to give a huge thanks to Dexter he was so down to earth and such a great person at heart, I could genuinely feel he cared, and sympathized with my situation. Second I would like to thank everyone for making sure my brothers funeral went as planned. I was out of my element, dazed and confused.     To start out, nobody wants to have to plan a funeral or go through the grief and stress of a loved one passing away. BUT, I am SO glad my family chose Wheeler & Woodlief when my dad, Dennis Hedgepeth passed away. We had the most peaceful and honorable funeral for my Dad. All of the staff went WAY out of the way to give my dad the type of funeral that anyone would want. The David family and their staff is exactly what my family needed with the passing of my dad.     We [unfortunately] had the BEST service possible from Dexter and his team at Wheeler & Woodlief. With the unexpected loss of a family member they were nothing short of amazing.     I was referred to Wheeler & Woodlief by my former neighbor when my husband died unexpectedly in March 2018. I had no idea of who to use because I am not originally from this area. My neighbor had used them for her husband and referred us to them.
    From the moment I called I was absolutely pleased. Losing my husband the way I did was very upsetting. I felt like I was in a fog.
    The complete staff of Wheeler & Woodlief were very compassionate and extremely sensitive to our needs and wants for my husband.
