Doris Anne Boone Brown

ROCKY MOUNT - Doris Anne Boone Brown, 82, of Rocky Mount, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018. Doris was born on July 8, 1936, to the late Eddie C. and Sarah Ward Boone, and grew up in the White Oak community on her family's farm. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, former Nash County Sheriff, Franklin Delano Brown. She graduated from Spring Hope High School and went on to attend Louisburg College. Doris began her career at the Nash County Farm Agent's office and then she went to work for a short period of time for the Nash County Board of Education. She then spent several years as a stay at home mother. In 1972, she began working at the Nash County Clerk of Court office until her retirement in 1993. Doris made many friends during her career at the Clerk of Court office through her support and encouragement of every person she encountered during her tenure. After retirement, Doris enjoyed spending time with and making many sacrifices for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also became a talented artist, and filled her home with dozens of beautiful canvases, depicting the natural landscapes of North Carolina. Doris leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, Franklin Delano Brown, Jr., and wife Gina of Wilmington, and Scott Boone Brown and wife Kim of Wendell. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kennedy Kathryn Brown of Wilmington, and Morgan May and Nicolas Scott Brown of Wendell; two brothers, Albert Boone and wife Pat and Phil Boone and wife Carol of Rocky Mount, brother-in-law, Joe Shearon of Louisburg, brother-in-law, Doug Brown of Wilson, sister-in-law Annaleen Brown of Bailey, and many nephews and nieces. Doris is also survived by many special friends throughout Nash County. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Shearon of Louisburg. A Celebration of Doris' life will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow the Service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville. The Family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.   7. I am sorry to hear about the death of Mrs. Brown. Death brings sorrow, pain, heartbreak, and loneliness. We miss our love ones and wish to talk and spend time with them.
