Willie Herman Brown

Willie Herman Brown, Jr. age 70 of Enfield, NC died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Halifax County, NC on April 8, 1940 to Willie Herman Brown, Sr. (deceased) and Rachel Moore Brown. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Brown Tickle and Susan Brown Pittman. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Mildred Harris Brown; his son, Andy Hadley Brown and wife Robin Hale Brown, and their two children, Andrew Allen Brown and Charles Thomas Brown of Rocky Mount, NC; and his daughter, Jennifer Brown Andersen of Leland, NC; six brothers James Edward Brown (Rachel, deceased), Nashville, TN, Gerald Lindsey Brown (Jane), Whitakers, NC, Samuel Glenn Brown, Whitakers, NC, Darrel Roger Brown (Connie, deceased), Whitakers, NC, Charles Edwin Brown (Susan), Hope Mills, NC, and Ernest Moore Brown (Bobbie), Enfield, NC; brother-in-law, Kenneth Tickle (Barbara), Dublin, VA and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, along with members of his church family, Arlington Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC. After his retirement as a Maintenance Supervisor from Abbott Laboratories in 1995, Willie enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering with maintenance chores at his beloved church, rehashing old times with friends at the ‘old' Smith's store, and visiting and helping maintain Bellamy's Lake, his favorite retreat. Visitation will be held at Arlington Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The funeral, conducted by Rev. Tim Lowry, will follow at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the service, burial will take place at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Willie's memory may do so by contributing to the Building Fund, Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount NC 27803.
