Willie “Billy” Bernell Boswell

July 4, 1942 ~ January 3, 2012

Willie Bernell Boswell, 69, AKA as Billy, and Chief , laid aside his mortal body and his soul entered into the real world on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. He was born on July 4, 1942 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was the son of the late Bernell Boswell and Thelma Kathleen Brantley Boswell Mace. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one brother Bobby G. Boswell. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Peggy Gupton Boswell, one son C. Blake Boswell and his wife Kelly L. Boswell of Rocky Mount, and three daughters, Bettina Boswell Morris and husband Michael of Diamond Head Miss., Amy Boswell Jackson and husband Andy of Sharpsburg, Bethany Boswell Mayo and husband Matthew of Rocky Mount. He also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren, Ryan Andrew Jackson, Ashlyn Jordan Jackson, Megan Alexandra Jackson, Anna Margaret Jackson, Abigail Grace Jackson, Emily Claire Boswell, Carter Blake Boswell, Kalee Paige Mayo and Noah Carson Mayo. Billy graduated from Benvenue High School and attended Frederick College. In high school and college he enjoyed his athletic abilities in football and baseball. He enjoyed attending the class reunions and will be missed. Billy served his country in the National Guard. In the early 70's, he was Chief of Police for the City of Sharpsburg. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and golf. Until his short illness, he was actively working with his son at Boswell Son Septic Tank Service, Inc, and Environmental Maintenance, Contractor for CSXT for 22 years. The family would like to thank Nash General Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care, the entire staff, Dr. Boyette and Nancy Brinkley RN. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 6, 2012 at the chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Flood, Rev. Allen Mills, and Rev. Todd Greene officiating. Entombment will follow at Mill Branch Cemetery on Mill Branch Road, Sharpsburg, N. C. The family will receive friends at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:30pm on Thursday evening, January 5, 2012.   6. Condolences to the Boswell family on the passing of my uncle.I am the son of Bobby G. Boswell, born March 18th 1957. Frankie Kent Eason Boswell. I was put up for adoption and lived in Nash county in NC by the Holland family from Middlesex, NC. I now live in Prattville, AL My adopted name is Joseph S. Holland.
