Rocky Mount-William R Bulluck, 87, went to live with his Lord and Saviour Sunday, November 14, 2010. He was born in Nash County August 23, 1923 to the late Ashley E. Bulluck, Sr. and Ruth E. Byrd Bulluck. Mr. Bulluck worked for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and the Seaboard Railroad from which he retired with 38 total years of service. He also served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, West Edgecombe Ruritan Club and the American Legion # 58. Mr. Bulluck enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in his younger years and also reading. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Belah Bulluck Watts, a daughter Ann Bulluck Spencer and her husband, Ken; a son, William R. Bulluck, Jr., a niece raised by them, Peggy Winstead and a grandson, Joey Carter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lula Mae Johnson Bulluck of the home; daughter, Beth Bulluck Carter and husband, Donald L. Carter, Sr. of Garner; daughter in law, Betsy Daughtridge Bulluck of Rocky Mount; brother, Ashley E. Bulluck, Jr. and wife, Nell of Kill Devil Hills; sister, Betty Bulluck Ellis of Wilson; brother in law, James R. Johnson and wife, Peggy of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Donald L. Carter, Jr. and wife, Jolinda, Sandy Thompson Howard and husband Mike, Kassi Spencer Evans and husband, Chris, William R Bulluck, III and wife Kim, Mary B. Bulluck Dilday and husband, Jason, Robert F.D. Bulluck (Skeeter), John Caleb Bulluck and Fiance, Brittany Webster, Michelle J. Winstead, Melissa C. Daniels and husband, Ray and 12 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of William R Bulluck will be held 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Price officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and other times at the home. Interment will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Pineview Cemetery.
