William Gorham Joyner, 73, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010. He was born May 25, 1936 in Nash County, son of the late Lonnie and Ollie Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Joyner; brothers, C. Lee Joyner, Atlas F. Joyner, George H. Joyner; and sister, Eunice Robbins.
William was an active member of the Woodmen of the World, Lodge 1086 in Nashville where he served as treasurer from 2005 to 2008. He was well-known for his sales of fried peanuts and produce. He was retired, but enjoyed working at the Packhouse Flea Market on weekends.
William leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 15 years, Patricia Webber Joyner; two sons, Randy William Joyner (Judy) and Frederick "Freddy" Gorham Joyner (Karen); two daughters, Kathy Louise Smith (Mark) and Deborah Lynn Ball (Martin); step-daughter, Laurie Smith (Delano); step-son, George Timothy Whitley (Cynthia); fifteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his brothers and sisters, Genevieve J. Pridgen, Marjorie Bone, Warnell Joyner, Clarence Josh Joyner, and Aaron Joyner.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30pm Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to remember William will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
