Walter Allen Ostergard passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 after a declining illness. He loved the outdoors. He said "Nothing like walking in the countryside with your dog; you notice things in nature that when people are around, you miss." After Graduation from Cuyahoga Falls High School, he attended the University of Toledo on a full athletic scholarship. He served his country as a U. S. Marine. He worked in the Material Handling Industry.
Born in Valdosta, Georgia, he leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce MacClellan Ostergard. He is survived by his daughter Laurie and son-in-law William Foster of Midlothian, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jack and Hayley Foster; daughter, Leigh and son-in-law Andreas Alexandropoulos of Athens, Greece; and son, Joshua Carlton of Wilson, NC. ; mother, Sarah Evelyn Ostergard; brother, Keith Ostergard of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ostergard
His favorite poetry was "No Retreat, No Surrender" and "Do Not Go Gently Into the Night". His favorite prayer was the Serenity Prayer which he said every day.
Private services were held at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
