Tom O Palmer

July 16, 1934 ~ February 3, 2011

Mr. Tom O Palmer, age 76, of Rocky Mount, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Born on July 16, 1934 in Owosso, MI, he was the son of the late Harold F. and Eleanor Parker Palmer. He was the President and CEO of the Mary Frances Center in Tarboro, NC, a substance abuse rehabilitation center. Tom truly loved the Lord, his family, and friends. Quietly and anonymously, he helped many people in many ways. He loved to fellowship with his "Lunch and Bible Study" friends each week. Not having any siblings, he considered these friends his brothers. Tom was also a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Faye Wesson Palmer; four daughters, Christine Marie Clark and her husband, Frank, of Stone Mountain, GA, Patricia Ann Palmer and her fianc, Mark Jones, of Charlotte, NC, Susan J. Tweedy and her husband, Scott, of Nashville, NC, and Patti J. Anderson and her husband, Bill, of Tarboro, NC; two sons, Thomas L. Palmer and his wife, Natalia Gallego, of Alpharetta, GA and Adam W. Sullivan and his fianc, Debbie, of Spring Hope, NC; 15 grandchildren; and his loving dog, Charlie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Ricky Sorie and the Rev. Brandon Dees will officiate. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 PM on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 505 South Englewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or to Dawson Baptist Church, 9905 Thirteen Bridges Road, Enfield, NC 27823.   3. I am going to miss Tom so much at Dawson Baptist Church! He was such a nice man. I enjoyed how he & Pastor Ricky picked on and teased each other during Bible Study.(Our Bible Study is very informal.) I appreciated Tom’s wisdom and opinions,I could tell he was a very smart man and knew the Bible well.I really appreciated his sense of humor also.I am sure there is great rejoicing over his arrival in Heaven.Love and Prayers to all of his family.
