Tim Leroy Courtney, 71, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born March 22, 1939 in Cumberland County, son of the late John and Elva Courtney.
Tim worked in textiles for over 35 years. His career began in Fayetteville, NC as the first employee hired by the Boxer family business which over the years evolved into Texfi Industries where he advanced to Vice-President of Marketing.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Kay Courtney; daughters, Michelle Courtney-Williams and husband Rusty of Rocky Mount and Kim Perdue and husband Perry of Clayton; grandchildren, Blade and Bailey Perdue; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, J. Fuller Courtney of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 3:30p.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville NC 27834.
