Thomas Bedford Robbins

Mr. Thomas Bedford "Tommy" Robbins, age 74, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
Born in Nash County on May 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Lester David Robbins and Margaret Lois Batchelor Robbins. He was also predeceased in death by sisters, Martha Christine Robbins May and Lois Jeanette Robbins Bulluck.
A true educator, Tommy enjoyed a long career in various education and guidance roles for the Fairfax County School System in Fairfax, VA until his retirement in 1988. He relocated to Maine where he enjoyed the climate and beautiful surroundings.
Surviving are his son, Gregory B. Robbins and wife, Lisa Tanner Robbins, of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, Thomas Tanner Robbins and Catherine Grace Robbins; and a sister, Betty Robbins McAuley and husband, Reid, of Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2011 at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
A private service will follow in Maine.

Tom will be missed by all who knew him. We had the pleasure of becoming friends to Tom and Jim in Maine in 2000. We enjoyed many good times at their home in Maine. We mourned with Tom in October of 1993 when Jim passed away much too soon. Now we like to think Tom and Jim are together in spirit once again.
