Thelma McCart Hale

Rocky Mount, NC - Thelma McCart Hale, 85, passed away on August 7, 2012. She was born on December 11, 1926 in Camden County, N.J., daughter of the late Frank and Mary Hopkins McCart. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Thomas Hale. Thelma was born and raised in Collingswood, NJ, where she met her true love, John Hale. Thelma worked for an attorney, at McMillan's Bakery, and owned a shoe store with her late husband before relocating to Voorhees, NJ to raise her nine children. Thelma and John retired to Carolina Beach, NC before ultimately settling in Rocky Mount, where she lived out the remainder of her life. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Tracey, Margaret, John, Thomas, Jeffrey, Steven, Edward, Joseph, and Sharon; 27 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 7:00-8:30pm with a rosary to follow at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.   1. Hi Kids, (Well, some of you are my age and older..). Sorry to hear of Thelma’s passing. While time and distance has kept us apart, I will not forget her, or the kindness she showed my mother, after our grandfather’s passing…..Frank Mc Cart ….PS I posted a yearbook photo of Thelma here.
