Stephen Dallas Barnes

Stephen Dallas Barnes, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011. He was preceded in death by his Father, John Dallas Barnes; Mother, Sudie Bass Barnes; wife Betty Beal Barnes; sister, Josephine Pearson; and brothers, Purvis Barnes, Bradford Barnes and Curtis Barnes. Steve is survived by a brother, Theophilus Barnes and wife Lillian of Wilson, sisters Geneverette Garner and husband Charlie of Elm City and Betty Lou Bottoms and husband Pete of Sims; and 16 nieces and nephews. Steve was retired from the NC DOT. He enjoyed a good round of golf and played often. He made many friends and acquaintances and always loved to tell a good story. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2 pm at the Red Oak Cemetery with Larry Smith officiating.
