Sonja Paris Adcox

ROCKY MOUNT - Sonja Paris Adcox, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Born in Nash County, NC on November 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Theodore R. Paris and Isabelle Gibson Paris. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Basil Paris and Melvin Paris. Sonja worked in the banking industry until declining health forced her to stop in the mid 1980's. She was a longtime member of Englewood Baptist Church where she was a prayer warrior and was an encourager to everyone around her. Sonja had a creative spirit and loved decorating her home especially for Christmas. Sonja is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carthoris "Pete" Adcox; her children, Randy Adcox and wife, Silvia, Lisa Tippette and husband, Robbie, and Robert Adcox; her grandchildren, Daniel Adcox, Casey Fairley, Hannah Reece, and Abigail Adcox; her sister, Isabelle Paris Donaldson; her cousins, Pam Smith and Wanda Perkins; and many special nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Pineview Cemetery with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sonja's memory to Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S.   1. So sorry to hear of Sonia’s death. We were childhood friends . Will always remember her as a loving and sweet girl. My sincere condolences to her family. I’m sure she will be missed.

You knew she was a Christian by her positive and enduring Testimony. And she was such a wonderful prayer warrior. Aunt Sonja’s prayers reflected her love for Jesus and for the unsaved as well as for the believers. I can honestly say Aunt Sonja had a heart for her Lord.
