NASHVILLE-Sarah Johnson Wheeless of Nashville passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the age of 82.
Mrs. Wheeless was born in Rocky Mount on February 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Robert James Johnson and Sarah Fountain Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Herman Wheeless on February 17, 1986; a grandson Jason Aaron Wheeless and brothers James Johnson and Julian Johnson.
Mrs. Wheeless was a member of Westside Church of Christ. In 1988 she retired from Montgomery Ward after 25 years of service as a department manager.
She is survived by her sons George Wheeless and wife Cathie of Carrollton, GA and William Wheeless and wife Ebbie of McDonough, GA; grandsons Spencer Wheeless of Redfield, KS, Christopher Wheeless of Newnan, GA, Matthew Wheeless of Marietta, GA., Grant Wheeless and wife Heather of Atlanta, GA., Chad Wheeless and wife Stacy of Breman, GA., and Seth Wheeless of Jackson, GA; a sister Stella Johnson Wheeler of Tarboro; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In her daily life, Mrs. Wheeless, fully exemplified all the artful and useful gifts and acquirements of a devoted, Christian and loving wife and mother. She was even tempered in her home life, cultured in the social graces, and generous in her disposition. If the good that men and women do live after them and kind works and gentle deeds are immortal, then the life she lived will long be an influence for those in the circle in which she spent her life. Her end was befitted as one whose life had been lived like hers; as gently as falls the morning dew her pure spirit passed into the great beyond and to the crown that is incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Mike Hinrichs, minister of the Westside Church of Christ will preside. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
