Samuel Lee Morris

TARBORO - Samuel Lee Morris, age 79, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on July 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Samuel Madison Morris, Sr. and Lucy Virginia Cherry Morris. He was also preceded in death by his son, Samuel Keith Morris; daughter, Sandra Renee Stroud; and his brothers, Donald Ray Morris and Charles Madison Morris, Jr. Samuel graduated from Tarboro High School in 1961. He went on to take a number of business courses and the Dale Carnegie Leadership Course. Samuel also graduated from the Missouri Auctioneer School in Kansas City, MO. For many years he was involved in retail sales which he greatly enjoyed and was very successful at. Samuel later became Partner, President and CEO of the High Tech Bottled Water Company in Bossier City, LA. He held this position until 2004 when he sold the business and retired. At this point, he married wife, Anna, and they moved to Tarboro. Though retired, he was never one to sit still for long. Samuel worked at several jobs including Sales Associate at Dough Henry Chevrolet of Tarboro, contractor for Affiliated Mortgage Company of Rocky Mount, salesman for ProClean Pressure Washing, and had his own lawn and landscape business. In addition to these, he kept his own lawn in pristine condition. Samuel loved the Lord, his family, and his church family. He served as a deacon at Arlington Baptist Church in Rocky Mount for several years and also on numerous committees. As an active member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, he served as an usher and on the Stewardship Committee. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he went on a mission trip to His Manion in Hillsboro, NH. Samuel had many friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Samuel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Anna A. Morris of Tarboro; his son, Benjamin Brian Morris of Fountain; his four grandchildren, Christopher and Brooke Stroud and Callie and Brycelinn Morris; his sister, Shirley Ann Whitehurst of Conetoe; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Samuel's life will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, 3732 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery, 1298 Peach Street, #1200, Tarboro, NC 27886. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
