Rosa Bailey Jones
Mrs. Rosa Bailey Jones, age 81, of Rocky Mount, NC, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Nash General Hospital.
Born September 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late LeRoy Pierce and Della Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Brenda B. Watson and her husband, Donald, and Johnette B. Strickland, all of Rocky Mount, NC; sons, Willard "Bob" Bailey and his wife, Linda, and Roy S. Bailey and his wife, Kay, all of Rocky Mount, NC; sister, Marie Dawes and her husband, Russell, of Savannah, GA; brother, Terry "Jack" Oakey and his wife, Anita, of Portsmouth, VA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Donnie R. Bailey, Terry L. "Tom" Bailey; and a granddaughter, Tamela Bailey.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 21, 2011 in the Chapel of Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Johnette B. Strickland.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Camilla Proctor for the excellent care of their mother and brother, the staff of the 4th Floor West at Nash General Hospital for the excellent care they took of Mrs. Jones and the family, and the staff of Hunter Hill Nursing Home for their care.

Johnette and Roy, I don’t know if either of you will remember me or not, but my Mama, Louise Owens, used to run the laundry-matt across the street from where you lived on S. Frankin St., when you were young. I baby sat for Johnette one summer, though she was older and in school. I have often thought of all of you over the years. I was in contact with Tom for a few years, then lost contact with him, later to learn he had passed away. Something that was hard for me to believe, because he was so young. I didn’t find out about it until weeks after his funeral. I hadn’t heard about Donny passing away until just now, when I read your Mom’s Obituary. I am sorry to hear of your Mom’s death. I remember her as being a very sweet woman. Your family has surely had your share of loss and grief, much too soon. I have missed you all.
