Robert Stancil Clark

October 4, 1943 ~ September 15, 2015

Rocky Mount - Robert "Bobby" Stancil Clark, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Born in Nash County, NC on October 4, 1943, he was the son of the late James Ivey Clark and Evann Hux Clark. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, William Lee Corbett and Kelley Joe Ferrell; one sister, Shirley Ann Clark and one brother, James Everette Clark. Bobby was a native and resident of the Avalon Community, and for the past 16 years was a member of Avalon Baptist Church, the church he grew up in. He was also a past member of the Battleboro Baptist Church and community where he came to meet and know many dear friends. A family man through and through, Bobby centered his life on his family and made sure they were always taken care of. For over 40 years he worked in construction as a pipe fitter and later retired from Mill Wright. Bobby had a contagious personality, having never met a stranger and neither turning down a good conversation whether it be at one of two favorite places, the Hot Dog Stand or at Benvenue Grill. Loved by all who knew him, he will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Bobby leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Judy Kelly Clark; his children, Tracy Stancil Clark of Rocky Mount; William Kenneth Ferrell of Rocky Mount; Judith Lynn Corbett of Rocky Mount; Nancy Kay Rose and her husband, Scott, of Rocky Mount; and Troy "Pete" Davis of Rocky Mount. He is survived by his 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Lorraine Clark of Raleigh, NC and one brother, Jerry Clark and his wife, Nancy, of Rocky Mount. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC 27804 with Reverend Joe Price officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home will begin at 11:00am and proceed until the time of services.
