Robert Elery Parrish Sr., 85, passed away May 16, 2010. He was welcomed by his loving wife of 65 years, Neva Bernice Owens Parrish who passed away June 22, 2009.
He was born in Nash County February 6, 1925 to the late Joseph William Parrish and Eva Williams Parrish. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by sisters: Annie Lee Parrish Jackson, Frances Geneva Parrish, Ola May Parrish Wadford, Margaret Helena Parrish Green; and brothers: Henry Edward Parrish, Glen William Parrish and Arthur Darrell Parrish.
Those left behind to honor his memory are: daughter, Gayle Parrish Reavis and husband David of Savannah, GA; son, Robert E. Parrish, Jr. and wife Gail of Clemmons, NC; three grandchildren: Rhonda Green & husband Shannon of Cocoa, FL, Michelle Reavis of Savannah, GA, April Crail & husband Charlie of Grafenwoeher, Germany; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Green, Logan Green, Hunter Reavis, Ian Crail, Chloe Crail and Ruby Crail. Also left behind is his loving sister, Doris Marie Parrish Wood of Winterville, NC, and many other beloved family members and friends.
He graduated from Benvenue High School. After graduation he served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Seaboard Systems Railroad after 39 years of service.
He was a member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC . The family extends a special thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Spring Arbor and Dr. David Browder.
The family will receive friends and family at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm and other times at Spring Arbor in the Sun Room, 1251 Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Dr. Carl Poole will officiate. Interment will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Grandpa – you are one of the most wonderful Godliest men I have ever known – you were kind and loving to everyone you ever met – you and Grandma meant the world to Hunter and I – we know you are at peace and happy to be With Mama again – I will cherish the memories we made for eternity. I love you very much and will miss you. Please don’t worry about mama and daddy – Hunter and I will do all we can to support, love and care for them as you and Grandma did for everyone else. Gayle and Family Robbie and Family, I am so sorry about Uncle Robert. He had truly one of the most loving hearts I have ever seen for Aunt Bernice and his family.
