Robert “Bob” Dennis Allen

April 29, 1944 ~ December 2, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT - Robert "Bob" Dennis Allen, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on April 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert Baird Allen and Maxine Batts Allen. Bob graduated from Benvenue High School and attained his Bachelor's degree from East Carolina University before going into real estate. His career in real estate as a partner with Boone, Hill, Allen & Ricks spanned over 48 years. Bob's motto was simple, "You're at your best when you are helping someone else" and he lived his life by his own words as he loved mentoring new agents and helping other seasoned agents in meeting their goals. Outside of his career, he enjoyed fishing, especially at Teaches Hole on Ocracoke Island, woodworking, camping in his Airstream at Highland Haven Airstream Park in Highland Haven, Virginia, attending car shows, and his 1979 Farmall 140 tractor. A longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Bob would always give thanks the Lord above all for everything he has been able to do and accomplish and especially loved his church family. His greatest treasure was that of his family, especially his grandchildren who always would bring laughter and pleasure to Bob's day. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, Bob will be dearly missed by all those who had to the good fortune of calling him friend. Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Annette Banks Allen; his children, Robert Scott Allen (Heather) of Morehead City, Michael Lawrence Allen (Nicole) of Red Oak; Kimberley Peebles Sherman (Richard) of Raleigh, and David Harrison Peebles, III (Crystal) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Josh Falls, Matthew Allen, Cyle O'Neal, Kelsey Allen, Hannah Sherman, Lillie Sherman, Davon Peebles, Grant Peebles, and Selby Peebles; his brothers, Wayne Allen (Judy) of Winterville and W.C. Allen (Debbie) of Rocky Mount; his sister, Linda Allen Gilbert (John) of Rocky Mount; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
