Robert Adron Joyner, 77, died Sunday May 9, 2010. Mr. Joyner was born in Nash County on March 16, 1933, the son of the late Levy Louis Joyner and Gladys Watson Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lynwood Joyner.
He was a retired jeweler and former owner of Adron's Jewelry of Rocky Mount for 18 years. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Joyner also was a member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge of Rocky Mount.
Mr. Joyner is survived by his wife of 30 years, Evelyn Wheeler Joyner; daughter, Tricia Harris and husband Keith of Rocky Mount; daughter, Deborah McVeigh and husband Tim of Wilson; step-daughter, Theresa Baker and husband Stephen of Wilson; grandchildren, Hayden and Abby McVeigh; step-grandchildren, Josh and Sarah Baker; and special granddog, Luke. He is also survived by sisters, Pat Langley, Jean Bass and husband Leonard, and Barbara Cobb and husband Ike, all of Elm City; and brothers, Bobby Jack Joyner, Odie Lee Joyner and wife Barbara, and Alvin Wayne Joyner, all of Elm City.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember Mr. Joyner will be held at 11:00a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Millbranch Cemetery with Rev. David Whitley officiating.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to our special neighbors Al, Joyce, Lee, and Kathy Jones. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Duke University Medical Center and Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center for their care and support shown during his stay.

Deborah I always thought your daddy was the coolest man! I can still remember going to Hayden’s birthday party (may have been his 1st one) at your father’s home.
