Rachel Batts Williams

ROCKY MOUNT - Rachel Batts Williams, age 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 13, 2021. Born in Wilson County, NC on July 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charlie McDaniel "Mack" Batts and Fannie Estelle Joyner Batts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Williams; her siblings, George D. Batts, James D. Batts, John Henry Batts, Elizabeth B. Long, William C. Batts, Richard E. Batts, Charlie L. Batts, Estelle B. Davis, Jessie B. Lancaster, Thomas A. Batts, and Polly B. Fussell.
Rachel is survived by her children, Donna Williams Barnes (Willard), Jeff Williams (Nan), Michelle Godwin Jackson (Rusty), and Jennifer Williams Gardiner; her grandchildren, Katie Barnes Webb, Sarah Gardiner, David Williams (Casey), and Jeremy Gardiner; her great-granddaughter, Coraline "Corrie" MacKenzie Webb; and one great-grandson due December 2021.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Rachel's life will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the Spring Arbor Cottage staff and the staff of Nash UNC Health Care.

Dear Family, We have such sweet memories of Rachel. She was truly a blessing to our family. She worked in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church where she loved and cared for Our Sweet Jo Girl and took it upon herself to continue to care for her through the years. I can only imagine when they get to see each other again. I know Jody will run up with a big hug to say thank you for loving me. It gives us comfort knowing Jody is with Jesus- also makes our hearts feel good just thinking of all the family and friends she will see again like our dear friend Rachel.
