Rachael Taylor Shields

Rachael Taylor Shields died on January 19th, 2010 at the Fountains at The Albemarle in Tarboro, NC. Mrs. Shields was born June 25th, 1918, daughter of Lydia B. Taylor and Byron Haywood Taylor of Greensboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Shields. Her deceased sisters were Eloise Taylor Robinson and Rebecca Taylor Forrester. She is survived by three children; Lydia Shields Garrison and husband W. McIver Garrison, Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC, William B. Shields, Jr. and wife Mary Jervey Shields of Durham, NC, and James Haywood Shields of Washington, DC. Mrs. Shields had three grandchildren; E. McIver Garrison and wife Tracy of Kingwood, Texas, Rebecca Garrison Bennett and husband Bo Bennett of Raleigh, NC, and Taylor H. Shields of Durham, NC. There are five great grandchildren. Mrs. Shields was a native of Greensboro, NC and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was actively involved in the community life of Greensboro as long as her health permitted. A graveside service will be conducted in the future at Oakwood Cemetery in High Point NC. Arrangements by Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC.
