Philip Wayne Wheeler

Philip Wayne Wheeler, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He was born December 4, 1946 in Wake County, son of the late Eli Derek Wheeler and Evelyn Young Wheeler. Wayne was a graduate of Nashville High School in 1966. He served his country and was very proud of his tour of duty in the United States Merchant Marines. Wayne also served his community as a paramedic for Wake County. He dedicated his life to helping others. One of the most memorable times in Wayne's life and often spoke of was a long trip to the state of Washington with his cousin Mike. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Georgianna Bridgers and husband Brian of Rocky Mount and Suzanna Wheeler of Washington State; sister Donna Wheeler Mullen and husband Donald of Bailey and her children, Leslie Franzwa of Rocky Mount, Michelle Raper and husband Dave of Bailey and Thomas House of Asheville. Wayne is also survived by his brother, Steve Wheeler and wife Chris of Greenville and his children, Neva Gray and husband Jeremy of Naperville IL and Sara Beth Wheeler of Greenville; granddaughters, Brittany and Savannah Bridgers; and several great nieces and nephews. A service to remember Wayne will be held 3:00p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Pastor Reuben Cason officiating.
