ENFIELD - Percy Edward "Ed" Gupton, Jr., age 73, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021. Born in Nash County, NC on July 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Percy Edward Gupton and Faye Natalie Dozier Gupton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Anthony Gupton.
Ed retired after 30 years of dedicated service with Hospira (formerly Abbott Laboratories). He was a charter member, deacon, and choir member of Christ Fellowship Church in Rocky Mount. Ed enjoyed taking care of his garden and orchard. He especially loved his family and many friends. Ed never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Ed is survived by his wife, aka his "girlfriend", of 53 years, Donna Rives Gupton; his daughter, Sherri Bryant (Joseph) of Enfield; his son, Jeremy Edward Gupton of Raleigh; his grandson, Andrew Bryant; his sisters, Linda Gupton Short (Billy) of Red Oak and Pamela Gupton Wester of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Ed's life will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Peede officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time.

What a great person Ed was, when i went to work in utilities, he was always willing to help me in any way he could, i learned a lot from him, always up beat about everything, RIP my friend , my condolences to the family
