Peggy Skinner Rose

March 26, 1934 ~ January 19, 2022

ROCKY MOUNT - Peggy Skinner Rose, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on March 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Sam "Bull" Skinner and Dorothy Ward Skinner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Curtis Christman Rose; her brother J. L. Skinner (Pat); and her sister, Jackie Skinner Medley (Billy). Peggy finished school at Red Oak and attended Womens' College in Greensboro for one year. She and her husband, Curtis, were married December 26, 1954 in Emporia, VA at Calvary Baptist Church. Peggy worked for Dr. Godwin for about three years and then went to work for Burlington Industries for about five years. She retired from Cord Mills, owned her own hair salon and she enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. Peggy was a member of Englewood Assemble of God. She was a good cook and loved to share her cooking with others. Peggy was on the prayer line calling for prayer for people in need. She also called people for Red Cross Blood Mobile to donate blood. Peggy enjoyed talking to people and friends and on the phone sharing and caring about their welfare. Peggy is survived by her three sons, Dale Rose (Ginger) of Castelia, Scott Rose (Nancy) of Rocky Mount, and Chris Rose (Cindy) of Aventon; her grandchildren, Samantha Rose, Christopher Rose, Chelsea Pereira, Crystal Fuller (Bart), and Kelli Kitzmiller (Robert); her five great-grandchildren; her fur-baby girl, Gracie and fur-baby boys, Camo and Oreo; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral Service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Gerry Blood officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at the home of Scott and Nancy. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Peggy's memory to Englewood Assembly of God, 2181 S. Halifax Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.   4. I am so sorry for your loss. We grew up in the same neighborhood years ago on the south side of Rocky Mount. Your in my prayers Scott, Dale and Chris.

  5. I will miss you and our conversations about cooking and gardening but now you can say hello to your Curtis and to mine to. My condolences to the family you will be in my prayers.

  6. Aunt Peggy was a faithful servant of God. She enjoyed chatting on the phone and catching up. She and mom shared many a moment gleaning the fields and sharing with family and friends. They were from a very special generation. Hang on to your precious memories.
