Peggy Ann Gupton Boswell

February 28, 1941 ~ March 29, 2024

ROCKY MOUNT – Peggy Ann Gupton Boswell, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 29, 2024. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on February 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Cecil Gupton and Mattie Owens Gupton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bernell “Billy” “Chief” Boswell and her brother, Elwood C. Gupton, II. Peggy was a graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High School Class of 1959. She lived a blessed happy life and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Throughout her life, Peggy wore many hats as she worked in the family business, Boswell & Son Septic Tank Service for 53 years, while in addition held various positions at First Citizens Bank, Edgecombe Community College, N.E.W. Christian Academy, and Enfield Academy in Whitakers. A longtime member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church, she also considered herself a member of Gospel Missionary Baptist Church. During her declining health, Peggy’s “Snail Message” was sent almost daily to approximately 81 text contacts as this was her Ministry for Praise, Prayers, and to share her love for God, through Jesus Christ. Peggy’s final message to all she loved was, “I Will Meet You There”. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Bettina Boswell Morris (Michael), Amy Boswell Jackson (Andy), and Bethany Boswell Mayo (Matthew); her son, Blake Boswell (Kelly); her grandchildren, Andrew Jackson (Heather), Ashlyn Jackson May (Thomas), Alex Jackson Medlin (Trey), Anna Jackson, Abigail Jackson, Claire Boswell, Carter Boswell, Kalee Mayo, and Noah Mayo; her great grandchildren, Emma James Jackson, Lilly Drew Jackson, Andie Lois May, Josie Belle May, Ellie Piper May, and Amelia Ann Medlin; her sister, Janice Gupton; her brother, Larry Gupton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. A Funeral Service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM at West Edgecombe Baptist Church, 13821 NC 43, Rocky Mount with the Pastor Allen Mills and Pastor Steve Webb officiating. Entombment will follow at Mill Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Peggy’s memory to West Edgecombe Baptist Church Children’s Renovation Project, 13821 NC 43, Rocky Mount, NC 27801.
