Pamela “Pam” Lynn Barnes

December 8, 1959 ~ November 27, 2021

ROCKY MOUNT - Pamela "Pam" Lynn Barnes, age 61, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Having battled many health issues recently, never with any complaints but rather with a strengthened desire to express love for those around her, she was ready to receive her new body free of further pain. Born in Nash County, NC on December 8, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Dean "B.D." Barnes and Josephine Moss Barnes. Pam's parents raised her to put God first and to love her family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, and a loyal friend. Pam loved her career as a nurse and made it her priority to make sure that her patients knew she cared for them and tried to make them as comfortable as possible. When her mobility lessened, she made it a point to keep up with her family and friends. She never failed to check in with her only two remaining aunts, Barbara and Edith. Pam was quick to let others know they were important to her. She believed in honoring people while they were alive, although declining health limited her activities. Pam is survived by her brother and caregiver, Dean Barnes of Rocky Mount, and her beloved canine companion, Monty. A Funeral Service to celebrate Pams life will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Reverend Royce Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to two nursing facilities where Pam spent her remaining time, Autumn Care of Nash and The Lodge of Rocky Mount. She felt blessed to have made some new friends, especially at the Lodge where she grew to love her physical therapists and those who took care of her. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Pams memory to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 485, Nashville, NC 27856. Because of the Covid 19 pandemic, please be respectful of those around you. Guestbook

  1. Pam was a great nurse! I worked with her (opposite shifts) for many years in the old days CoronaryCareUnit on 3East at Nash! It was always so refreshing to see her smiling face coming in for night shift after a long 12 hour day. Never heard anything but kindness from Pam! So thankful I had the opportunity to visit briefly with her in her last days. She will most definitely be missed but will live on in so many lives she touched and left with memories of her! Rest easy Pam!

  2. Dean, Sending condolences to you. Pam suffers no more and she is walking the streets of fold in Heaven. Prayers for you in the days ahead. You were a terrific brother to her

  3. Dean, Dale, Brett, and I are sorry to hear of Pam’s passing. She was a sweet lady and know she will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and in the days ahead. We love you!

  4. I’m so sorry to hear of Pam’s passing. Dean you have been a wonderful brother to Pam all these years and especially the way you have taken care of her. She has been blessed to have you! Thankful she is no longer suffering or in pain. Prayers for you during this time.

  5. Our condolences to Dean on the lost of Pam. Remember the great times we had visiting Uncle B D, Aunt Josephine, and cousins Pam and Dean. Pam just like her Mother, Aunt Josephine, was caring and loving who helped others in their time of need. Rest In Peace Cousin Pam…

  6. I am so sorry to hear about Pam. She was such a strong person and always smiled no matter what and shared her faith. We had a lot of laughs in the past and I am sure that they will continue one day in our new home.

  7. Dean, I am so sorry for your loss! I stopped and visited with Pam several times when she was in Autumn Care. I just learned of her passing yesterday. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. I know you’ll miss her terribly.

  8. Dean, I am so thankful that Pam had you to care for her during her last year. You demonstrated true dedication and love! A memorial tree was planted in memory of Pamela Pam Lynn Barnes . Plant a Tree
