Orvin Ollie Barnes

Orvin Ollie Barnes December 06, 2009 Orvin Ollie Barnes, 73, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009. He was born May 31, 1936 in Wilson County, son of the late Ollie and Lucille Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Barnes. Orvin served his country in the National Guard. He was a truck driver and retired from Hardees/Fast Food Merchandisers of Rocky Mount. He was an avid sports fan and was very passionate about his beloved Tarheels. Orvin leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 34 years, Martha Wilson Barnes; two sons, Robert Jason Barnes of Salem Community and Thomas Joey Barnes of the home; two sisters, Ruth Cockrell of Wilson and Dorothy Sorrell and husband James of Swansboro; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Wilson of Salem Community. Orvin will also be remembered by four sisters-in-law, Bobbie Barnes of Wilson, Sheila Jarillo and husband Mundo of Speed, Debbie Wilson of Angier, and Betty Pridgen and husband Lonnie of Sharpsburg; two brothers-in-law, Wil Wilson of Salem Community, and Gilliam Wilson of Nashville; plus nieces and nephews, great niece and great nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives 7-8:30 pm Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Orvin's life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
