Octavious Talmadge "O.T." Batchelor

Octavious Talmadge "O.T." Batchelor, Jr., 85, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010. He was born February 21, 1925 in Sharpsburg, N.C., the son of the late Octavious Talmadge Batchelor, Sr. and Lucinda Stallings Batchelor. He graduated from East Carolina Teachers College which is now East Carolina University. His favorite hobby was fishing. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married the former Frances Orr on November 28, 1954 and from this union, had two sons and two daughters. Those preceding him in death were his parents, a young son, David Martin Batchelor; sister, Mildred B. McKenzie; and brothers, Douglas, Meddie Herman, and Conway "Connie" Batchelor. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years; daughters, Phyllis Batchelor Matthews (Lindsey) of Castalia and Ann Batchelor Burnette (Earl) of Castalia; son, Lee Batchelor of Rocky Mount; and four grandchildren, Ashley Matthews of Raleigh, Amanda Matthews of Greenville, Trevor Burnette of Raleigh and Colton Burnette of Castalia. He is also survived by brothers, Robert Bruce Batchelor (Lorine) of Tarboro, Andrew Jackson Batchelor (Gladys) of Lancaster OH; sister-in-law, Alma Batchelor of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to remember "O.T." will be held at 11:00a.m. Wednesday morning in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Lowry and Rev. Chad Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
