Obie Flowers Cressman

Obie F. Cressman, 95 went to heaven on Thursday, November 10, 2011. She was born in Edgecombe County on September 6, 1916 to the late William Crumel Flowers, Jr. and Lula Frances Lancaster Flowers. Mrs. Cressman was the oldest member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for over fifty years. She served as WMU President and was also a leader for the GAs and other various committees. She was employed by RBC Bank for over 30 years. She was a loving mother, Granny and “GG”. Mrs. Cressman loved to travel and loved gardening, especially with flowers and played in various Bridge clubs for over fifty years. Her husband Wayne C. Cressman and sister Millie Flowers Ange preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters, Winifred C. Joyner and husband, Phillip of Rocky Mount, Laurie Cressman and husband, Bill Cagle of Raleigh; granddaughter, Raven J. Edwards and husband, David of Kinston; grandson, Wayne Packer and wife, Jessica of Atlanta, GA; great grandsons, Parker and Seth Edwards of Kinston, Bryce Packer of Atlanta, GA and a special cousin, Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Clay of Jamestown, NC. A funeral service will be held 2:00p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. and Pastor Todd Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at 4522 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, NC.
