Nick Kornegay Moore

October 10, 1938 ~ June 29, 2010

RED OAK - Lemuel "Nick" Kornegay Moore, 71, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1938 in Rocky Mount, son of the late Julius Henry Moore, Sr. and Fannie Boone Moore of Nash County. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Julius Moore, Jr. and Benjamin W. Moore. Nick graduated from Red Oak High School in 1957. Nick also served his country in the United States Army. He received an associate degree from Nash Community College. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Nick was a retired supervisor having worked 40 years at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company/Sprint. Nick enjoyed his involvements with Farris Motors, Inc. after retirement. Nick always saw the best in everybody that he met. He was a loving husband and greatly loved by his family and friends. Papa Nick took special joy in seeing his grandchildren grow up. Nick leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 49 years, Margo Kennedy Moore; two daughters, Lynn M. Mills and husband Bob of Jacksonville, NC and Susan M. Craft and husband Hoyt of Rocky Mount; and one sister, Lorine M. Evans of Rocky Mount. Papa Nick will always be remembered by his grandchildren, Bobby, Brittany and Brooke Mills; and Nicholas and Logan Craft. Uncle Nick had numerous nieces and nephews that he adored. A service to remember Nick will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Givens and Rev. Bryan Sheehan officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.   1. I really thought a lot of Nick. He was a great guy and always met you with a smile. Nick loved a good joke and I always looked forward to telling him one because I knew that the punchline would be followed by Nick’s hardy laugh.
