  9. How sad I am to hear of Mr. Boddie’s passing. I had the pleasure and privledge of knowing Mr. Boddie through his service on the First Union board of directors and through our joint service to the Boy Scouts of America. I think the first personal visit I had from Nick was when I took the job as City Exec for First Union years ago. He advised me (in his own unique, kind, grandfatherly way) that he thought it would be good for me to be involved in the Scouts, and asked me to the Friends of Scouting campaign the coming year. Well, Mr. Boddie was someone that you just didn’t say no to when he asked you to to be involved in something that he believed in, and God knows he believed in the Boy Scouts! That was the beginning of a long association with Scouting as a volunteer and eventually service on the Eastern NC council board. I also loved spending time helping out and participating in the golf tournament at Mid Pines. What a great event and it was ALL because of Nick. I would love to know the amount of money the man single handedly raised for Scouting. I am sure it is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Nick loved golf and I enjoyed nothing more than having the opportunity to golf with Nick. I’ll never forget a trip I won in a charity raffle to play golf with Nick at the Country Club of North Carolina and stay in his place there. I am certain that when Nick arrived at the pearly gates he was greeted with the words found in Matthew 2523, Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master!. God bless Nick Boddie and the Boddie family. Leonard Pittman

  10. Mike and Ryan, I was so sorry to hear of your recent loss. I know he will be missed by your whole family. I lost my husband Scott in August, so I can imagine your pain. I just know they are up in heaven talking about horses and being outdoors camping!! You are in our thoughts and prayers. Holly Brooks OwnerOakbrook RV Rentals

  11. Mrs Boddie and children, I’m sorry to hear of Nick’s death. My fondest memory was the time I spent having breakfast and talking to Nick while his brother and the people from Kuwait and the people at the community table wondered who Nick was with. My regret was not getting back to Rocky Mount to see you all since then. I just never could get back in that area after I quit driving a truck. My deepest feelings at this sad time. Your friend forever ”Sheriff” Johnny Oates Bessemer City NC

  12. I enjoyed every minute I spent with Nick. Most of the time was centered around golf and horses , passions we both shared. Nick always had a special way of dealing with situations and I learned from him every time we were together. He was one of a kind! A very special man. Jim Morgan
