Nelson P Vinson

Rev. Nelson Paige Vinson, Sr., 83, went home to Heaven on Thursday, March 04, 2010. He was born December 14, 1926 in Norfolk, VA, son of the late Fred Arps Vinson, Sr., and Jessie Watson Vinson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Fred A. Vinson, Jr. from Chapel Hill. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 64 years, Polly Price Vinson; four daughters, Vicki Evans and husband Gene, Leslie Medlin and husband Jimmy, Cindy Pridgen and husband Dale, and Ruth Tant, all of Rocky Mount; one son, Nelson Vinson of Rocky Mount; eight grandchildren, Mark Evans and wife Amanda, Robin Evans, Leigh Anne Thurston and husband Randy, Melissa Medlin, Jennifer Harriss and husband Meader, Kathy Vinson, Justin Tant, and Elizabeth Tant. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Tommy Evans, Seth Evans, and Abby Thurston. A funeral service to remember Rev. Vinson will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, March 07, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1-2:00pm prior to the service.
