Nell Rose Ellis Boone

RED OAK - Nell Rose Ellis Boone, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Born in Gates County, NC on June 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas Ellis and Nellie Pruden Ellis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Albert "Al" Boone; a granddaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Boone; siblings, Maggie Swindler, Thomas Ellis, Dorothy Williams, Lois Boone, and Mamie Tyler. Nell retired from the Nash Rocky Mount School System following 35 years as a dedicated high school teacher. Her joy of teaching was evident through her love for all her students through the years. Nell was very active through her membership in Red Oak Baptist Church, having served in many different roles within the church. Most notably was her dedication as a Sunday School teacher which she faithfully taught for over 70 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Most of all, she was a most wonderful friend, and her heart and spirit will forever be remembered. Nell leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Bert Boone and wife, Donna, of Nashville, and Neal Boone and wife, Mary, of Red Oak. She is also survived by grandchildren, Casey Boone, Luke Boone and wife, Samantha, Wesley Boone and wife, Allison, and Bradley Boone and wife, Kristin; and a great-grandson, Sawyer Boone; sister, Molly Bass of Nags Head; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Red Oak Baptist Church Family Life Center, 4861 Church Street, Red Oak, NC 27868. Burial will follow the service at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. A Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service at Red Oak Baptist Church Family Life Center.
