Nancy Beatty Smith

Nancy Beatty Smith, of Rocky Mount, NC, on November 30, 2011 went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Richard Bruce Smith; her four children, Freda Smith Vittone of Arlington VA, Cynthia Smith Barsanti of Fairfax VA, Richard Scott Smith of Rocky Mount and Katherine Smith Bergen of Richmond VA; her two sons-in-law, Joseph Barsanti and James Bergen; her five grandchildren, Catherine and Phillip Barsanti, Ben and Meg Bergen, and Victoria Vittone; one brother, Truitt Miles Beatty; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Beatty Pennington and brothers, Kenneth Carlton Beatty and Jack Ayres Beatty. Nancy grew up in Atlanta and attended Chamblee High School with her best friend for life, Nona Law. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church will Rev. Larry Curtis officiating.
