CASTALIA – Michael "Mikie” Kevin Batt, age 51, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Born in Broward County, FL on September 21, 1970, he was the son of the late Calvert Lee Batt, Sr., and Patricia Ann Privatte Batt. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Calvert Lee Batt, Jr.
Mike had a 30 year career in the Media Merchandising Industry where he made a lifetime of friends that became like family. He started at the age of 12 working at his dad and uncle’s local Magazine Merchandising business, Rocky Mount News Agency. Mike loved cooking out and spending time with family and friends while laughing and telling stories from the past. His two favorite people in his world were his daughters, Andie, and Sara Michael, along with his fur kids, Greta and Loki. He had a passion for collecting guns, watching old westerns, the Dallas Cowboys and pushing his wife's buttons. Mike will be missed by so many people whose lives he has touched but he will be remembered for his laughter and love of life, family, and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nicole Noelle Grubb Batt of Castalia; his daughters, Anderson "Andie" Noelle Wilson/ Jacob and Sara Michael Batt; his brothers, Quin Rannells, Michael Grubb, Joe Stallings Jr., Gene Stallings/Elizabeth; his sisters, Anna Harrelson/Brad, Lisa Barnes/Lennie and his nieces and nephews, Greyson Fesperman, Chandler Barnes, Cameron Harrelson, Caitlyn Grubb, Brandon Barnes, Matt Stallings, Thomas Stallings and Cody Stallings, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Special Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Michael’s memory to Haven at Blue Creek, 1290 E. Arlington Blvd., Greenville, NC 27858, or a charity of choice.

I worked with Mike for over 10 years and he was always dedicated, trustworthy and overall just a terrific guy.

Those who know me know that sometimes I think I have everything covered but I end up still missing something & that happened to me when I was editing his obituary & memorial program so please know that Mike had in law’s that he loved very much & they were more like parents than in law’s in the last 20 years. Please forgive my error as it’s too late to correct now. I just know that Mike’s laughing at me going dang Nicki ya did it good this time. 🤦♀️
