Maylon “Wayne” White

ROCKY MOUNT - Maylon "Wayne" White, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Born in Nash County, NC on March 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Glyndon "Glen" Earl White and Nellie Mary Cobb White. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Sue White Walston. Wayne retired after almost 30 years working alongside his family at White's Supermarket before it's closing in 1991. His passion, dedication, and innovative ideas was well recognized throughout the years. Wayne was extremely proud to have been blessed with the opportunity working side by side with his family and of the many accomplishments that together they collectively brought to their patrons and neighbors in Rocky Mount. A man of tremendous faith, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount for many years. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his family and never missed an opportunity to visit another grocery store along the way or the opportunity to visit Williamsburg. A loving and dedicated father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend to many, Wayne will be forever loved and dearly missed. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Amelia White Kirkland and her husband, Patrick, of Carthage; his grandchildren, Caroline Paige Kirkland and Erin Taylor Kirkland; his brother, Ray White; his brother-in-law, Mike Walston; and his nephews, Michael Luke Walston and Christopher Walston. A Graveside Service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum. The family will be available to receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the Mausoleum.
