Mavis Bulluck Sugg

Mavis Bulluck Sugg, 95, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 following a brief convalescence. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. Dr. Jody Wright, Rev. Elizabeth Edwards and Dr. Gaylord Lehman will officiate. Mrs. Sugg was born June 1, 1915 in Rocky Mount. She was the daughter of the late William Adrian Bulluck and the late Bessie Griffin Bulluck, both of Rocky Mount. A founding member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Mrs. Sugg grew up and went to school in Rocky Mount. She attended Salem College in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Speight Sugg; daughter, Ann Sugg; son, Joe Speight Sugg, Jr. and sister, Elizabeth Bulluck Kincheloe. She is survived by two granddaughters, Carol Sugg Davis (Jeff) of Savannah, Georgia and Kathryn Louise Sugg of Tarboro; one great-grandson, Hunter Speight Davis of Savannah; and daughter-in-law Joan Wickham Sugg of Tarboro. The family will receive friends in the Sugg Foyer at Lakeside following the memorial service. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members and close friends. The family would like to thank special friends Veronica Cooper and Barbara Carmody, the staffs of Nash General Hospital, Bryant Aldridge Center and Autumn Care Rehabilitation Center for their support and care during her convalescence.
