Mary Love Council Todd, age 65, was welcomed in the arms of her Savior on Friday, March 29, 2013. Born on August 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Julian Edwin Council and Doreen Stegmann Council of Rocky Mount.
Mary Love dedicated her life to serving the Lord through her ministry as a teacher at Falls Road Baptist Church School. For 36 years her passion for teaching influenced the lives of her students and parents as well. Her dedication to this ministry influenced many of her students to love the Lord and serve Him with their lives. She was known throughout her career at Falls Road as the "Big Cheese".
A gracious and loving wife, she was devoted to her husband and her two daughters. She was their biggest cheerleader. Mary Love never met a stranger. Her smile and laughter was contagious to all who knew her and her generous spirit was felt by many. She was the "fixer" to everyone's needs.
She leaves behind her legacy and memories to her loving husband of 37 years, Larry Todd; daughters, Ashley Knauff and husband B.J. of Hubert and Shelley Hooker and husband P.J. of Pilot Mountain; mother, Doreen Council of Rocky Mount; sister, Judith Harman of Pulaski VA; niece, Jo Anna Greiner; nephews, James Harman and John Harman; and a wealth of dear friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives 7:00pm to 8:30pm Monday, April 1, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am Tuesday morning at Falls Road Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Price officiating and Rev. Steven Harduk assisting. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Mr. Todd, I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I always loved Ms. Todd. Both you and she were always so nice to me. I could tell you were both very much in love. You and your family will be in my mother and my thoughts and prayers. Ms. Todd had a smile and way that always made you feel better just by being around her. Love you, Danielle Barrett, former student at Falls Road
What a blessing Mrs.Todd was to all that knew her. We will never forget the positive influence she had on our son’s, Blake and Derek, during their early lives as her students. She loved and nurtured them as if they were her own. She is the teacher that will always remain dear in our hearts. She truly had a heart of Christ and it poured out of her in everything she did. Heaven has welcomed a beautiful angel. Marlene, Curt, Blake & Derek Sherrod

Dear mr. Todd and family, I think you all for sharing Mrs. Todd with everyone who ever walked the halls of Falls Road. Though she was never my teacher, she always had a hug and a smile for me. Mr. Todd, whenever you talked about her I always felt like you were describing your very best friend in the world…. I hope that when I talk about my husband people think the same about me… I’m praying for you all. Just know she is in the best place that anyone could be…. –Jessica Bottoms Moots
