Rocky Mount - Mary Frances Davis Crickmore, 79, died Monday, July 4th, 2011. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Born January 23, 1932, in Stokes, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ruben Elmer Davis and Louise Gray Davis. She attended Pitt County schools. After moving to Rocky Mount, she met and married her husband of fifty years, Mack Braswell Crickmore.
Prior to her marriage, Mary Frances worked at the Rio Restaurant. After marriage, she enjoyed staying home and caring for the loves of her life, her two daughters, and later spending time with her grandchildren. Although she lived in Rocky Mount, she always cherished the times that she could return to Greenville to be with her siblings and life-long friends.
Mary Frances was a long time member of Benvenue Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School class until she was no longer physically able to attend. As her friends will remember, she had a passion for growing flowers, particularly African Violets and geraniums. She enjoyed many summers at Lake Gaston and made many dear friends while there. Friends will also fondly remember lunches and gatherings to get together to talk about the "good old days".
She was one of the true givers in this life, always putting others before herself. Her friends will recall her willingness to lend a hand in a time of need, or offer her kind words and prayer to someone who needed comfort.
She is survived by her husband Mack Braswell Crickmore; daughter Patty Louise Collins and husband Jeffrey of Rocky Mount; daughter Mary Maxine (Maxie) McGlohon and husband David of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Adam Steven Collins, Olivia Gray Collins and David Edward McGlohon, Jr.
She is also survived by brother Dallas Randolph Davis and wife Diane; sister, Betty Davis Hudson and husband A.J.; sister, Alice Davis Manning and husband Bobby; and sister, Polly Davis Craft and husband Tim all of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by numerous special nieces and nephews.
Mary Frances is preceded in death by her mother and father and two brothers, John Talmadge Davis and Ruben Elmer Davis.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Nash General Hospital, Northside Family Pharmacy and Dr. Dunphy, oncologist at Duke Medical Center. In addition they extend thanks to special friends, Ruth Robbins, Jackie Medley, Judy Ellis, Mattieleene Johnson, Ann Baker, Ray West, Sandy West and a very special sister-in-law, Nell Dean Crickmore. Also, the family would like to thank her care-giving angels, Vanessa Collins, Diane Barnes, Malinda Lynch, and Rachel Leonard.
