Mary Ellen Bond Parker

Mary Ellen “Skipper” Fenner Parker, age 98, died on Friday, April 17, 2015. She was born on June 16, 1916 in Charleston, SC to the late Oliver James Bond, Jr. and Ellen Sinkler Bond. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Julian Baker Fenner, her second husband, John LeRoy Parker; and a son, William E. Fenner, III. She is survived by her son, Julian Baker Fenner, Jr. of Rocky Mount; her two daughters, Anna Rives and her husband, Jeff, of Chapel Hill and Ellen Holt and her husband, Bob, of Center Cross, VA; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Fenner of Rocky Mount; and her grandchildren, Ferebee Smith, Rob Holt, Ramsey White, Jefferson Rives, Jr., Julian Rives, MeHegan Fenner and Julian B. Fenner, III. “Skipper” is also survived by three great-children. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 153 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family wishes to thank Lizzie Johnson and her other dedicated and loving caregivers. In lieu of flowers, contributions in “Skippers” name can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 153 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can all look forward to a time when death will be no more.
