Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Uncle Mike. I have great memories of speading time with him at Grandma’s house in Cordova as a child. I am saddened by his passing though we were not in touch in recent years.

  2. My heartfelt condolences to all. Though we may be far apart, my thoughts are with all of you at this time. I still have many fond memories of Uncle Mike and am sure many of the nieces and nephews do as well. Mike Poel Cordova, Il

  3. Mike was a good man, a very pleasant and kind person, a respected neighbor, husband to a treasured friend, and I will never forget him. I always enjoyed watching him stroll by my kitchen window, taking walks with his beloved dog, Budda. These walks were not only for exercise but were a pleasant opportunity for Mike to meet and talk with neighbors and other dog-walkers fortunate enough to meet them along the way. We, as neighbors and friends, will surely miss this friendly duo…….. Mike and Shirley had many wonderful years together, enjoying special trips and get-togethers with family. I am so glad they made these memories and didn’t wait to start living. I believe they lived their lives to the fullest, whether a special trip or simply the enjoyment they got from playing along with the Wheel of Fortune. I thought this sounded like such fun and was tickled pink to offer some spelling assistance should they call me! Joe and I both will miss Mike and extend our sympathies to the family. In the years ahead, we hope to remain good friends with Shirley and Budda and, along the way, to offer our assistance and support in any way that we can. Most sincerely, Other Shirley

  4. I remember Uncle Mike as always always postive and upbeat with a ready smile and laugh. He always had a joke to tell or a practical joke. I enjoyed the times that I spent at he and Tootie’s (Muriel’s) home when I was a teenager and even younger, and they will always be fond memories. I will remember his voice and smile forever. God be with you Shirley, Pat and Scott.

  5. Marvin Mike was in my graduating class at Cordova, IL High School – our parents were best friends and the Poel family was such a part of Cordova. His Mother playing at Cordova Baptist Church for several years, his Father so active in church, his sister Betty singing at so many community events and weddings along with Mike doing solos at so many weddings – he sang at our wedding and will always remember the fond memories of him and his family. Sincerely, Jim & Joyce Piatt, 1107-16 St. Ct., Silvis, IL 61282
