Rocky Mount - Marjorie Lawrence Taylor, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Tarboro where she had been a resident since May 2013. Born in Halifax County, NC on June 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Lawrence and Grace Locke Lawrence. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Taylor in 1989, her sister, Mary Lou Lawrence Harris and her niece Glenda Lawrence Hoffman.
For many years Marjorie worked as a teller at Peoples, Planters, and Centura Banks of Rocky Mount. Following her retirement she was a long-time volunteer at Nash General Hospital. She was also active in a weekly nursing home ministry at Westgate Nursing Center (now Southgate) for many years. She has been a member of Lakeside Baptist Church since 1966.
Marjorie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister, Ann Lawrence Thompson, a resident of The Fountains at the Albemarle; and her brother, Glenn Lawrence (Carolyn) of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Connie Harris Griffin, Lawrence Edward Harris (Jackie), Louann Lawrence Perry ((Glennis), Emily Grace Thompson Bradshaw (Wayne), all of Rocky Mount. Two other nephews are Lee Thompson (Mary Jo) of Warsaw and Lewis Thompson (Nannette) of Tarboro.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00AM at Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, with Dr. Jody Wright officiating. Visitation will follow services in the Sugg Foyer of the Kinchloe Building. A private entombment will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the memory of Marjorie to Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
