Marion "Pinkie" Joyner Pridgen

Rocky Mount – Marion Gray “Pinkie” Joyner Pridgen, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.  Born in Nash County, NC on June 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Alva Weeks Joyner and Leola Gretchen Hyde Joyner.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Daniel Lee Pridgen and her brothers, Bobby Weeks Joyner and Dennis Hyde Joyner.

A long-standing resident of the Oak Level Community, Pinkie was a 1952 graduate of Coopers High School.  After marrying the love of her life, she dedicated herself to caring for her husband, raising her children, and looking after her family.  A devoted, loving, and cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and dear friend to many, Marion will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Marion is lovingly survived by her sons, Alva Lee Pridgen (wife Jean), Daniel Keith Pridgen, Marion Craig Pridgen (wife Brenda), Ashley Gray Pridgen, and McBuffy Cade Pridgen; her daughters, Kimberly Louise Pridgen (special friend Bill Hill) and Kelly Shannon Pridgen; her six grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren and future little one; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Marion’s life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Todd Greene officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service at Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
