Marie Glasgow Stone

Marie Glasgow Stone, 85, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 8, 1924 in Nash County, daughter of the late William Andrew Glasgow, Sr. and Pearl Pegram Glasgow. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Conner "Flat" Stone on January 22, 1972. Marie was a graduate of Rocky Mount High School. She worked at Roscoe Griffin Shoes for 10 years but Marie's most rewarding career was her dedication and love in caring for her family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Sandy Mercer and husband Walt of Elm City and Sheila Cockrell and husband Spencer of Rocky Mount; brother, Bill Glasgow and wife Sarah of Wilson; three grandchildren, Walt Mercer and wife Myra of Greenville, Frederick Mercer and wife Kerri of Raleigh, and Edward Cockrell of Rocky Mount; and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service to remember Marie will be held at 2:00p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. David Beam officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8:00p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.
