ROCKY MOUNT - Margaret Hunter Flowers, age 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2022. She was born on February 11, 1922, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Margaret was married for nearly 53 years to her husband, Alton Flowers, who preceded her in death. She always liked to say that he was her favorite Pastor, Teacher, and Best Friend. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christen Conway; Ann's husband, her son-in-law, Sam Conway.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Skinner (George Skinner); Ann Conway and her grandson Kevin Conway, all whom she loved and touched deeply. A dedicated mother, Margaret gave her best to her children. She took seriously her role as a wife and mother and invested her time growing in her knowledge and skill of caring for her home and her family and devoted herself faithfully and wholeheartedly to serve her Savior in each season of her life. Margaret loved to study God's Word and for years read the Bible through each year.
Margaret was rarely willing to step into the spotlight; however, she would always step in whenever needed; her preference was always to help and serve in the shadows. Whether it was working in the local church taking care of the church nursery, playing the piano, or in the kitchen, Margaret was a woman that God could use and the ripple effects of her presence on this earth will be felt for generations. Her prayer journals are full of the needs of others and reflect the ways God answered.
She has left an indelible impact to be remembered by all that knew her.
A Graveside Service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount with Pastor Dave Grogan officiating.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all the incredible caregivers at Breckenridge Retirement Center that have helped make Margaret comfortable in these last years, and to Nash County Hospice for their help in these last weeks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margaret's memory to Peoples Fellowship Baptist Church, 11972 East NC Hwy. 97, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. You may share memories and condolences with the family by visiting www.wheelerwoodlief.com.

Please accept our deepest condolences for your family’s loss.
Mrs Flowers was a wonderful Christian woman. Such an inspiration and blessing to me. Her light for Jesus did shine very brightly in this dark world Will miss her but I know she is not suffering any more and that is a blessing.
We will be praying for you. all. We won’t be able to come to the service but know our prayers and hearts are with you there,
It is a great loss when we say goodbye to Mom, sorry we have not kept in touch. Your Mom was one of our special people, she kept your dad in line, Now Alton ) we have missed that though the years. Your Dad and Mom taught us to love people and for that we have always been so grateful. They were there when we were married, our three baby girls were born, when our youngest (Charity) was hospitalized for 15 days and then still when the twins Graduated from high school. God allowed us special people throughout our lives your Mom and Dad were in that list. Thank you for sharing them. ❤️
