Margaret Brock Miller

Margaret Brock Miller passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. She was born in Laurel Hill NC. She was the daughter of the late Preston Thomas and Annie Jane Sanderson Brock. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul David Miller ; sisters, Rosalind B. Chinnis, Saundra B. Stubbs; and brother, Nathan Thomas Brock. Margaret was very devoted to her family, frequently told them that she loved them, and always tried to make their lives better through education and encouragement. She took care of her husband and mother in their last years. She never met a stranger and could easily engage in conversation. She was an avid reader, could discuss world and national politics, international business, and American and Asian stock markets. She enjoyed all sports; tennis was her favorite. She loved the rain and her quiet times. Margaret returned to college in 1980, graduated in 1984, earning the highest state board score in her class and joined the nursing staff of Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, Rocky Mount Garden Club, a former volunteer of Nash General Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and the American Red Cross Blood Drives. Survivors include her son, Paul Kinsman Boyd, Jr. of Rocky Mount; daughter, Paula B. Tharrington and husband Emmette of Raleigh; grandson, Emmette Boyd Tharrington and wife Amy of Wake Forest; great-granddaughter, Ella Marie Tharrington; great-grandson, Austin Walker Tharrington; brother, James D. Brock of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. A service to remember Margaret will be held 11:00am Monday, January 21, 2013 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
