ROCKY MOUNT - “Maggie” Hill Leary, age 78, passed away Friday, February, 15, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Greenville, NC, November 23, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph B. Hill and Ethel Lee Dixon Hill. In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Billy Gray Leary who died in 1990 and her son, Dale Leary who died in 1991.
Maggie graduated from Winston Salem School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and spent her last years employed with Tar Heel Home Health in Greenville. As a member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount, she was a leader of her Bible Study group and was involved in many other church activities.
Left to cherish her memory, her children, daughters, Gay Heath of Wilson and Cindy Schellenberg and husband Robert Schellenberg of Rocky Mount; son, Wade Leary and wife Phyllis Leary of Wilson; six grandchildren, Katie Rogers, Anna Claire Schellenberg, Rebecca Schellenberg, Stillman Heath, Emily Leary, Gray Leary; one great grandchild, Jacob Rogers.
A service to celebrate the life of “Maggie” will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Rev. William Grisham and Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service at 9:30am at the church. Burial will follow the service at 3:30pm at Leary Family Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Global Mission Fund, First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount.
