Luther Cleveland Turner

Luther Cleveland Turner, 72, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 25, 1937 in Pitt County, son of the late Luther and Victoria Turner. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dick Turner; sisters, Joyce Harrell and Annie Wallace; and son-in-law, Bill Fulford. Luther spent lots of time working with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his yard and gardening. He was also a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Luther was a wonderful person and will be truly missed by his friends and loved ones. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Turner; four daughters, Brenda Fulford, Teresa Dew (Robbie), Pattie Mullins (Jamie), Vicky Boyd (Donald) all of Rocky Mount; and five grandchildren, Travis, Chris, Brandon, Nikki, and Blake. Luther is also survived by two sisters, Alice Williams (George) of Rocky Mount and Jeanette Johnson (Charlie) of Houston TX; two brothers, BudTurner (Linda) of Enfield and Bill Turner (Jean) of Whitakers; plus a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home and at other times at the home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy Porter and Rev. Joe Price officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
